Playtime Crown Casino is FILLED with fun activities for the whole family. You don't need to pay to enter, you just pay for the activities you want to enjoy, and there are plenty to choose from! It might be hard to find somewhere as impressive as the arcade at Playtime Crown Casino. The Crown Christmas Spectacular was one such example of what crown does well. Putting on free things of interest to attract visitors. Only went for 15 mins but was definitely worth the visit TIP: the show is free and takes place near the entry to The Atrium Bar.

Not to mention premium boutique and department store shopping, meaning you’ll have no trouble finding your next great purchase.

You could easily spend a day at Crown Center, a “city within a city” featuring 60+ shops and restaurants, live theater and the Hallmark Visitors Center, home to interactive paradise Kaleidoscope.

Kids can be kids here, too, thanks to the side-by-side attractions LEGOLAND Discovery Center and the city’s first aquarium, SEA LIFE. Next door is Union Station, KC’s historic train station, which now houses a children’s science center, plus theaters, touring exhibits and Amtrak.

To the south is the National WWI Museum and Memorial, an American treasure and the country’s only museum dedicated to the Great War.

What to eat

Enjoy the “catch of the day” before you catch the train at Pierpont’s, a surf-and-turf institution nestled inside historic Union Station. (The all-day lounge menu represents one of the best deals in town, 5-ounce Filet Mignon for $15.) Kids love playing with their food at Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant, where your burger arrives to your table on a model train. New to the area is SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza, packed with fresh ingredients and a contemporary vibe.

Self-billed as “honest, clean food,” Sheridan's Unforked in Crown Center takes advantage of local ingredients to create a colorful, diverse menu with plenty of options for everyone, including tacos, quesadillas, creative burgers and seasonal items that throw twists on traditional fare. Also be sure check out One East Urban Bar & Kitchenfor KC-brewed craft beer, local spirits and delicious New American offerings during breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night.

Crown Casino

The Crown Casino (more officially known as the Crown Entertainment Complex) is, surprisingly, a nice place to wander round, particularly with young children.

It's so much more than a casino - hence the name Crown Entertainment Complex I suppose!!........

.........In fact I've been there quite a few times and not even noticed the entrance to the casino part yet!

There's often a very pleasant music and light show in the main Atrium section with different shapes like jellyfish and sharks moving around on the walls while the crystal ceiling is a mass of lights.

It's especially worth a visit at Christmas when a big show is put on around a Christmas tree.........

.........with roundabouts, puppets and other Christmassy items on display, with a light show too.

They apparently also have a big show here for Chinese New Year but I haven't seen that yet.

If you're around after dusk, you can also see the fireballs blasting off from the large towers running along by the Yarra River.........

........These go off every hour after dusk till midnight or 1am, weather permitting.........

........It's certainly interesting being alongside them when they go off unexpectedly!!

Inside you can do a load of window shopping - but things do look a bit expensive to be buying anything here!

It's also nice and cool inside so it's a great place to visit on a hot day, as well as a rainy day.

There's also some good water fountains for the children to play in outside on the Yarra Promenade although at the time of writing these are closed due to some building works going on.

The official address is 8 Whiteman Street, Southbank but access is available from the riverside. It's more-or-less located on the opposite side of the river to Melbourne Aquarium.
